Alexia Khadime Bonus Interview

03.06.11   12:00 AM

In this, our first bonus interview podcast, we give you the whole interview with Alexia Khadime. She speaks about all sort of interesting things, from her early career to institutional racism that can sometimes be in the theatre.

Khadime's most high profile role was as the lead "Elphaba" in the London production of Wicked. She permanently took over the role from Kerry Ellis on 11 May 2009, having previous filled in from June to November 2008 whilst Ellis played the role on Broadway. Khadime was the first black woman to be cast in the role full time. As being the first black woman to play the role, a special green make-up had to be made by mixing three different shades of green by MAC cosmetics.

The Theatregoers' Choice Awards are organised by leading theatre website and recognise the performers and productions of British theatre with emphasis on London's West End. Nominations and eventual winners are selected by the theatre-going public.

Idina Menzel to have her own tv series?

11.30.10   9:21 PM

ABC is developing a one-hour musical drama series starring Idina Menzel

"Hot off her recurring role on Glee last season, Idina Menzel is headlining her own musical hourlong project, a mother-daughter relationship drama in the vein of Gilmore Girls. It will star the Broadway actress as the single mother of a teenager who, to make ends meet, waits tables and performs at weddings and bar mitzvahs, odd jobs that Menzel herself worked early on while pursuing a Broadway career."
